Where Do We Go From Here?

Congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama on his historic election as the first African-American president of the United States. Here at Word Ministries we prayed for the protection of all candidates and asked for the will of God to be done.According to the emails that I receive there are those who are elated and others who are not only disappointed but angry. What shall we do? Will we continue to pray and enforce 2 Chronicles 7:14 or will the Body of Christ remain divided on this issue? I’m reminded of the song, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” Let unity begin with the church of the Living God.

Where do we go from here? If we pray according to Romans 8 asking the Holy Spirit to help us pray then we can depend on God to watch over His Word to perform it for our good and His glory.

We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

Romans 8:28 (AMP)

Let’s establish a basis for unity in the Body of Christ:

There is One Lord

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

(Deut. 6:3-5 KJV)

There is One Body

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. (John 17:21-23 KJV)This unity of the Body of Christ – the reality of this scripture is rooted and grounded in love as described in 1 Corinthians 13. Let unity begin with us in our prayer closets. If we pray in secret the Father will reward us openly in our communications and relationships.

The following prayer, “Religion” is from Prayers That Avail Much for Leaders. Set your mind on this Scriptural Prayer.

Father, by the example of sending your Son to purchase us through His sacrificial death, You have shown us the meaning of true love. Your Word has taught us that we are called to love one another. In this way the world will know we have passed from death to life. The church is called to walk in love because You are love. We pray the spiritual leaders will come alive to a fresh passion and fire for You. We pray the places where the church gathers to worship will explode into houses of glory. We pray we will see an increase of miracles, signs, and wonders that will make the Gospel come alive to those outside of the body of Christ at this time.

We recognize that there is a need for the breath of God to blow with increasing intensity across this nation and our world. Let the church hear Your invitation again to draw near to You and know that You will draw near to us. Teach us to return to times of waiting on You, just soaking in Your presence and learning to center our hearts in Yours. Open our ears to hear You speak Your will, plan, and purpose for the church in this hour.

We repent for all the ways we have allowed idolatry and antichrist spirits to infiltrate our lives and our worship. You are holy, and in many ways we have moved away from a walk of purity and holiness before You. Our hearts are hungry for the fullness of your presence in our midst. Our hearts are hungry for a passionate praise and worship that consumes our being. Cleanse us from dead works and old wineskins. Break and destroy every wall of tradition that has trapped us in lifeless worship and empty rituals. We pray the church will reflect a true picture of the kingdom of God as we gather to worship from every tribe and nation together. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us.

Father, we pray those called to serve in the five-fold ministry offices would experience fresh zeal. Call them to the secret place with You so they can encounter Your glory again and receive new vision for Your church. Let them see Christ and Him crucified, and nothing but Jesus revealed. May a new generation of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers arise, bound together in the depths of Your love. Let them speak in Your authority, walk with Your humility, and learn to yield to the plans You have for each of them for the furtherance of Your kingdom.

In the name of Jesus we believe the church of Jesus Christ is learning to walk in love and the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a church that will continue to be divided by denominations or points of doctrine, but we are a church saturated by prayer and passionate worship of You, our God and King. We pray to become a church that, by our lives, will witness to a world in need of the love of Jesus. We pray to become a church that begins today to explode in waves of revival that will bring life to lifeless congregations and ignite the youngest believers to do exploits to the glory of God.

We pray in the name of Jesus that those persons crying out to know truth would encounter the living Lord through dynamic congregations. We pray for them to see the demonstration and power of the Holy Spirit that transforms lives. We pray for those that have explored other avenues of spirituality to encounter reality in Jesus Christ. May the church become an embodiment of the prayers prayed by Jesus.

We thank You for a move of God in the house of God. We pray always for the peace of Jerusalem. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
