Do You Believe?
Jesus said in Mark 9:23 that all things are possible to him that believeth. Your belief system reaches out to every condition and circumstance of this life. The writer of Proverbs said, As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew 11:1) When you are hoping for something it only exists in your mind – it is unseen. The realm of the unseen is where all possibilities and probabilities exist, and you can speak those things you hope for into this physical world where you live. It all begins with what you believe. Your belief system will provide seed for sowing. Your mind is a garden where good things can grow or where weeds come up. You are the gardener of your soul; what is your garden producing?

Jesus said that all things are possible to him who believes. The capacity to believe is in your DNA, and what you believe will determine your destiny. You believe that you can, and you can or you believe that you can’t, and you can’t.

One evening while sitting at the table eating dinner with some friends, I noted that the face of one man was etched with pain. I looked at him; touching his arm I asked if he knew that he had within himself the power that raised Jesus from the dead? He looked astonished, and wondered aloud where I could have gotten such an idea. (Read Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesians 1.)

Our conversation turned to the power of our thoughts, and I remarked that Jesus said if you believe in your heart and speak to the mountain, the mountain will move. He made the standard comment: well I guess that I don’t have enough faith.

Jesus said that if your faith is as small as a mustard seed that you can have whatsoever you say, even the mountain will have to obey you and be moved into the sea. You don’t have to try to get faith. You have been given the faith of the Son of God. (Gal. 2:20) Do you believe?

Christian believers will always say they believe in God, but do they have faith in God? What do you believe about God, about others and about yourself? Do you believe the integrity of the Word of God? Your natural mind resists the teachings of Jesus and will try to talk you out of believing. But, you have the power of choice.

Your present circumstances have been created by your choices and your choices were controlled by those hidden thoughts that govern the soul. Jesus said that those things which you say shall come to pass. Your words are a product of what you believe. If you believe that nothing good ever happens to you, you draw to yourself nothing good. If you believe that God is able to make all favor and every earthy blessing come to you in abundance, you will speak words that draw the goodness of God to yourself and your circumstances. What do your circumstances reveal about your belief system?

There is an illustration in the New Testament that moved a woman who was ill to seek out Jesus. She had spent all that she had on doctors and only grew worse, but she had heard something that she chose to believe. She believed that if she could touch the hem of Jesus’ garment she would be healed. Had she not believed this at the core of her being she would never have risked being stoned to death. Her belief controlled what she said and her actions. This woman, who was considered unclean, ventured out and worked her way through the crowd that pressed against Jesus, acting on what she had chosen to believe.

Jesus said that her faith made her whole. Not only was she healed physically, but she was made emotionally whole after suffering for twelve years with a disease that isolated her from her husband and children. Would you risk ridicule and public shame to be healed? She did. Why? Because she believed! (Read Mark 5:25-34.)

When you renew your mind to the Word of God, believe in your heart, and speak to the mountain in your life to be removed the Holy Spirit goes into action to bring about that which seemed impossible. All things are possible if you believe, and those things which you say shall come to pass. Choose your belief system according to the word of God, and take control of your thoughts. Have faith in God!
