An Open Invitation

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

As my daughter and her family arrive from their distant abode in Florida, my husband and I rush outside smiling and waving. The car doors open, the grandchildren without hesitation boldly jump out of the van, except for the sleepy one that isn’t quiet awake yet. They run first into their granddaddy’s open and one by one he swoops them up, swings them up above his head. Joyously they reach for the sky. Even the little one in her mother’s arms looks up with contentment. They are home with Nonna and Granddaddy.

The grandchildren see their grandfather as a person who is worthy of trust. He plays with them; they follow him around, sometimes pout when he has to say, “No.” But in a few moments they are at ease knowing that someone is lovingly setting boundaries. Feeling safe they scamper away to bring out the toys or get treats from the kitchen.

Eagerly God is searching the horizon to see if He can catch a glimpse of you. Prayer is your approach to God, He wants to see your face and hear your voice. Come with a trusting heart, knowing that He will receive you. Come confidently and boldly taking your place as His child, He made you and redeemed you. Acknowledge Him as your Father. Wherever you are you have freedom to enter into the Holy of Holies by the blood of the Lamb.

Jesus is asking, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest” (Matthew 11:28 the Message). Jesus calls you to come and learn of Him, get to know Him, to know Him is to know the Father. If you refuse to come, He doesn’t give up on you. Look! He has been standing at the door, constantly knocking. If you hear Him calling open the door. He will come in and fellowship with you. (Read Rev. 3:20).

God is calling you into the sweet communion and fellowship of the Holy Spirit. He is concerned with everything that concerns you. You can speak frankly, openly and honestly to Him in your every day language; you don’t have to speak eloquently, but simply and plainly.

Sometimes I talk with Christians who are uncomfortable in God’s presence. The way you overcome this feeling is by developing your relationship with Him through Bible reading, meditation and prayer. Get rid of your misbeliefs and renew your mind to the Word of God. Today, you are a son or daughter of God. A God who sees, a God who hears you when you pray.

If you have sinned, don’t hide as Adam did in the Garden of Eden, but run to Him, receive His mercy and forgiveness. Receive His gift of grace, the ability to take your place as His very own son or daughter. He isn’t like any earthly dad; He is sufficient to supply all that you need.

You belong here in the Throne Room, in your Father’s presence; you are His child. You will find mercy and grace to help you in your time of need. His mercies are new every morning, and He lavishly heaps grace and more grace upon you, even more than you are able to receive. Come into His presence, recognize and know that He is your God; He is not withholding any good thing from you. This Mighty God is your Friend, Redeemer, Counselor, Prince of Peace, your Loving Father who will never leave you or forsake you. Here in His presence is fullness of joy, your strength for the day. Having come confidently and boldly to the Throne of Grace, you can go out knowing that you are never alone. God’s presence goes with you.
