Making Decisions on the Basis of Love
Father, I realize that before I can love others as You have instructed me, I must love myself. Help me to speak truly, deal truly and live truly in harmony with You, myself and others. I am Your workmanship, re-created in Christ Jesus, that I may do those good works which You, Lord, predestined (planned beforehand) for me [taking paths which You prepared ahead of time], that I should walk in them [living the good life which You prearranged and made ready for me to live].
According to Your Word, I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Help me to remember that although others do not always know what is best for me or this business to which You have called me, there is safety in a multitude of counselors, and so I weigh and consider their advice before taking action. I accept my responsibility as a leader (owner, employer, supervisor, manager, chairman of the board) to make the final decision concerning company issues, business transactions and corporate policies. I trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding; in all my ways I acknowledge You, and You direct my paths. I look to You to cause my thoughts to be agreeable to Your will, that I might make wise and healthy choices.
Give me the courage to make decisions that are in agreement with Your purpose and plan for my life and the lives of my associates. My yes shall be yes—my no, no.
Strengthened with Your power and might, I do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. I am not [merely] concerned with my own interests, but also with the interests of others. I desire to do unto others as I would have them do unto me. I am walking uprightly before You; therefore, I consider, direct and establish my way [with the confidence of integrity].
You are my confidence, and You keep my foot from being snared. Your love is shed abroad in my heart. I love my neighbors—my fellow workers—as myself, and make decisions with their welfare in mind.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
