To Discuss the Divorce, Separation, or Reason You Are Raising Your Children Alone
Lord, in the name of Jesus, I approach Your throne of grace with confidence, so that I may receive mercy and find grace to help my family in our time of need. Father, You are a merciful God; You will not abandon us or destroy us.
In the name of Jesus, I forgive my debtors, including those who have offended, rejected, or abandoned my children and me, or otherwise caused us pain and suffering. Holy Spirit, I call on You to give me the words to explain to my children why their mom/dad does not live with us. I purpose to be honest with my children [speaking truly, dealing truly, and living truly], telling them only that which they can bear, that which is appropriate according to their ages.
Lord, I cry out to You; make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You. Let my prayer be set before You as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.
Help me to listen with an open heart, recognizing my children’s hurt and anger—even their self-blame. Holy Spirit, give me words of comfort when we talk, and help me answer their questions with grace-filled words. Prepare their hearts to hear when I share why we are living alone.
Father, You are a present help in the midst of trouble. You will never leave us or forsake us. I depend on You as my Partner, believing that all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good because we love You and are called according to Your design and purpose.
In the name of Jesus. Amen.
