A Call To Prayer

On November 4, 2008, the citizens of the United States will go to the polls to vote for our next President and members of congress. The future of our children and the destiny of our nation are in our hands. This is an awesome responsibility! At this crucial time we are asking God for His wisdom. Let us not vote according to our emotions, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

The next leader, either Senator John McCain or Senator Barack Obama, will set the course for the future of our nation and other nations will be affected. America is at a crossroads and I am sounding the call for prayer and fasting. We must take our places in prayer building up the wall and standing in the gap before God on behalf of our nation.

The following Scriptural prayer is adapted from our new book Prayers That Avail Much® for Leaders soon to be released.

Leaders Who Fear the Lord

Father, we pray Your will be done in our nation even as it has been ordained from Heaven. We are asking, believing, and receiving political leaders—beginning with our next president and his cabinet members—who have a desire to bring reformation to America, who reverently fear and worship the Lord God Almighty.

Thank You for men and women who fear and worship You, seeking Your wisdom and counsel. We believe that You are giving us just leaders who will provide stability and strength to America. They shall speak truly, deal truly, and live truly.

We intercede for these men and women You have called to be in positions of leadership in our federal and local government, our educational system, our places of business, our local communities, and in our houses of worship.

Keep them alert to the Spirit who makes all things plain and brings all things to their remembrance – the information that they must understand to fulfill Your plans and purposes. Thank you for giving us leaders who seek first the kingdom of God, Your way of doing and being right.

We pray that they will never forget to fellowship and commune with You, Father, because You confide in those who are Your friends.

These God-fearing leaders delight themselves in you, my Lord, so they remain flexible, openhearted, and tender for obedience. Thank You for leaders who will stay on course and lead our nation on the road revealed by Your Spirit. It is in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
