A New Day Dawning
The baby was asleep, and familiar negative feelings were in the atmosphere and I felt the need to escape. Grabbing a warm sweater I walked outside to sit in the bright sunshine for a few minutes. Staring at the dry, brown leaves on the huge oak tree, I felt a sense of depression nipping at me. The new leaf that I had turned over was no longer green and vibrant, and hopelessness joined the depression. The past two months had been the happiness I had ever experienced. I loved everybody, and did not want to go back to the old me. Looking beyond the oak tree I said, “God, if I have to go back to that pit of depression, just take me out of here. I would rather die than go back.” That still small voice answered me in the depths of my being, “Today begins your walk of faith.” Instantly, I knew that a new day was dawning. I stood up, threw my shoulders back. This was not about turning over a new leaf…it was not about my feelings…this was about a brand new day! An exciting journey that continues and continues!
Prayer:
Father-God, thank You for newness of life! Apart from You I can do nothing, and I cannot learn to walk by faith apart from You. Thank You for delivering me from depression and leading me into the land of the living. Today is the dawning of a new day…a new adventure as You teach me to walk by faith and not by sight or feelings. I have been baptized into Christ Jesus…into His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, I too might walk in newness of life. I have been united with him in ad death like his, and I shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his! Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to reveal the things of Jesus unto me, and giving me the grace to walk by faith and not by sight.
