Hope for the Next Generation

In my attempt to cast all my cares for my grandson over on the Lord, I sit here in my prayer room waiting for the Holy Spirit to show me how to pray. There are all manner of prayers to be prayed and I had prayed them all one by one. I even commanded the mountain of HED (Hypohidrotic Ectodernal Dysplasia) to be removed and cast into the sea. The mountain has not moved – my grandson still does not sweat, and when he overheats his temperature soars!  I know without question that God knows what He is doing, and He plans to take care of my grandson and give him a hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11). He knew him before the foundation of the world. I cannot fix him…no doctor, counselor, psychiatrist, therapist or pastor can fix him.  No doubt about it–I want a miracle for my grandson. He loves to play sports, and is exceptionally good at golf, but overheating can be life-threatening. Even though he understands his rare condition and explains it to his peers, he feels they treat him as though he has a disease. Unless you see him up close and personal you cannot imagine how this affects every area of his life. Holy Spirit, show me what to pray and how to pray for my grandson. I know that all things are possible with God. My confidence in God has not wavered. I do not always know what is best, but I know the One who does. I see the temporal; He sees the eternal picture. God has the answers, and we can trust Him! The world will see the “works of God revealed in him.”  In the meantime I read the Word, meditate and pray for the next generation!

PRAYER:

Father, I choose to cast all my cares for my grandson over on You because You care for him, and You will accomplish that which concerns me. Your unwavering lovingkindness endures forever, and You will not abandon the works of Your own hands. LORD, my heart rejoices in You. My strength rises in You, and my mouth mocks my enemies because I rejoice in Your deliverance. No one is holy like You, LORD, no, no one except You!  There is no rock like my God!  Oh yes, you shaped my grandson — first inside, then out; You formed him in his mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, my grandson is marvelously made!  I worship You in adoration—what a creation You have made! You know him inside and out, You know every bone in his body; You know exactly how he was made, bit by bit, how he was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, You watched him grow from conception to birth; all the stages of his life were spread out before You. The days of his life all prepared before he’d even lived one day.  Your thoughts—how rare, how beautiful! God, I’ll never comprehend them! I couldn’t even begin to count them—any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Thank You for revealing the works of God in him – spirit, soul and body. I stand in the gap and build up the hedge of protection round about my grandson and pray that You will let him rise in the morning and live always with You! Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow my grandson all the days of his life and he shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I pray in the majestic name of Jesus!  Amen!
