Faith Arising on a Different Level
Something is not right! The mother remembered having that feeling when nothing was going on, but this time was different. She was seeing changes in their son’s behavior, but no one else, including her husband, seemed to notice. Somehow she knew, but she didn’t know the questions to ask. No one would listen because she couldn’t give them the facts they needed. She was accused of being suspicious…of worrying when there was nothing amiss. But she knew that something had changed her son’s behavior, especially his eating habits…suddenly the teenager couldn’t eat enough and sometimes he drank large quantities of milk…the next night he wasn’t hungry. Not his usual eating habits. Then the bombshell exploded! The unbelievable happened—he was addicted to drugs! His parents talked with teachers, counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists, only to discover there was no human solution to their problem. It was more vital than ever before to know how to pray prayers that avail much. Each day with her Bible, pen and notebook, she read, cried, talked with the Holy Spirit and made notes. She read books on prayer, devouring the contents, and tried all the formulas with vigor! There in the inner chamber of prayer, she wrote letters to the Father, confident that the Holy Spirit was directing her thoughts and writings. She carefully penned meaningful Scriptures, inserting the names of loved one. As she re-read the flowing words aloud before the Throne of Grace, her faith began to rise to new levels. This was the beginning of the book series, Prayers That Avail Much. God heard the cries of a desperate mother and today her son, David Copeland, is serving as Vice President of Word Ministries, Inc. (A portion of the following prayer is based on a prayer written by Liberty Savard in her book, Shattering Your Strongholds.)
Prayer:
Father-God, I come before You today pleading for the deliverance and salvation of my children. You are my LORD, and my heart rejoices in You. My strength rises in the Lord! My words mock my enemies because I rejoice in your deliverance. No one is holy like You, the Lord—no, no one except You! I proclaim: there is no rock like our God! I will not go on and on, talking proudly, spouting arrogance from my mouth because You are the LORD who knows and You weigh every act. In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind my children’s body, soul and spirit to the will and purposes of God. I bind their feet to the paths of righteousness that their steps would be steady and sure. I bind them to the work of the cross with all of its mercy, grace, love, forgiveness and dying to self. I loose every old, wrong, ungodly pattern of thinking, attitude, idea, desire, belief, motivation, habit and behavior from them. I stand in the gap, tearing down and destroying every stronghold associated with these feelings. I loose the strongholds of unforgiveness, fear and distrust from them. I loose the power and effects of deceptions and lies of the enemy, and command confusion to go from their minds. I call forth every precious word of Scripture that has ever entered into their minds and hearts to rise up in power within them. There is nowhere they can go to avoid Your Spirit—it they climb to the sky, You’re there! If they go underground, You’re there! If they fly on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You will find them—You’re already there waiting! Father, in the name of Jesus, I proclaim: All my children will be disciples taught by the LORD. They will obedient to Your will, and great shall be their peace and undisturbed composure. My children were born to worship and glorify You!
