Prayer for the Nations
Jesus revealed that praying for nations is very important to God. It seems that most people think of Jesus as gentle, meek and lowly (and He is); a good shepherd carrying sheep on his shoulders (and He is). But there is another glimpse of Jesus that we tend to forget. That is the display of his anger on two occasions in the temple courts. (John 2; Mark 11:15-18) Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. I wonder how many were in an attitude of prayerful worship after all the haggling over the high interest rates they were being charged. They must have felt cheated by those who were supposed to be their brothers. Jesus declared openly before the people: Is it not written that my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations? PRAYER:
Father, we are your children…heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ who share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. We ask you, Father, to make the nations our inheritance, the ends of the earth our possession for your glory and your purposes. In the name of Jesus, we pray for the healing of the nations. Praise God! It is our Lord Jesus who will bring true justice and peace to all the nations of the world. Amen
