Let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.
Praying prayers filled with the Word of God and praising God will help you stay focused on the God of breakthrough and freedom—your heavenly Father. Just as I chose to, you will learn to walk this journey by intentionally staying focused on your Creator who won your freedom for you.
Life is difficult! Jesus knew this! No one had ever told me this, and I thought life was against me—that I was a mistake going somewhere to fail, and it was God’s fault. Be aware that the enemy of your soul wants to keep you trapped at a similar point. But your Savior is calling you to freedom and liberty. He wants you to know Him.
Some of us will go to quite extraordinary lengths to avoid our problems and the suffering they cause, proceeding far afield from all that is clearly good and sensible in order to try to find an easy way out, building the most elaborate fantasies in which to live, sometimes to the total exclusion of reality. Praise takes far less mental energy. Praising the Oone who made you, will energize and strengthen you for the day!
The prayers throughout this book are to help you align your thoughts with God-thoughts, and the praise will help you stay focused on God throughout the day. When those dark, anxious thoughts come, you must make a conscious decision to turn those thoughts into praise. Praise? Yes, because praise will stop and silence the avenger who is trying desperately to convince you to shut up. You replace those thoughts with praise, not because you feel like it, but because you are developing an intimate relationship with your Father.
Take a few deep breaths—stay calm and stay focused whether you feel like it or not. You will be moved by your feelings less and less. Dark thoughts will stop harassing you. Be patient with yourself.
You are not alone! The Holy Spirit is your Helper, and we who have walked this road before you, are here to pray for you and cheer you on! God is on your side and when you praise the One who made you. Breakthrough happens! So, declare aloud, “Here we go,” and turn the page.
PRAISE:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless Your holy name. I adore You and make known to You my adoration and love this day. I bless Your name, Elohim, the Creator of heaven and earth, who was in the beginning.
It is You who made me, and You have crowned me with glory and honor. You are the god of might and strength. Hallowed be Your name!
