Daily Prayer “Taking Thoughts Prisoner”
Dear Father-God, I choose to give myself to You because of all You have done for me. Let me be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind You find acceptable. This is truly the way I worship You. As I set aside the behavior and customs of this world, Your Word transforms me into a new person by changing the way I think. It will change me from the inside out!
I am learning to know Your will for me, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Thank You for delivering me from the spirit of depression and all the agony that comes with it. You have given me a spirit of love, power, and a well-balanced mind.
“I have learned that my thought life has incredible power over my intellectual, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. My thoughts can either limit me to what I believe I can do or free me to develop abilities well beyond my expectations or the expectation of others.”
Therefore, although I live in the natural realm, I don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve my aims. Instead, my spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which I have hidden. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God.
Today, I choose to capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One. Since I am armed with such dynamic weaponry, I stand ready to punish any trace of rebellion—negative and tormenting thoughts, worry, anxiety—and bring them into obedience to Your Word.
With my soul I will bless the Lord with every thought and purpose in life. My mind will not wander out of the presence of God. My life shall glorify the Father—spirit, soul, and body. I take no account of the evil done to me. I pay no attention to a suffered wrong. It holds no place in my thought life. I am ever ready to believe the best of every person. I gird up the loins of my mind, and I set my mind and keep it set on what is above— the higher things— not on the things that are on the earth.
Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, I will think on and weigh and take account of these things—I will fix my mind on them.
I have the mind of Christ, the Messiah, and do hold the thoughts, feelings, and purposes of His heart. In the name of Jesus, I will practice what I have learned and received and heard and seen in Christ and model my way of living on it, and the God of peace—of untroubled, undisturbed wellbeing—will be with me, amen.
