Daily Prayer “Deliverance from Hidden Sources of Anxiety”

Meditation
Sitting by the window in my music room, I closed my eyes after asking the Holy Spirit to teach me how to wait before the Throne of Grace. A forgotten memory resurfaced, and shame, anxiety, and humiliation washed over me accompanied by unwanted resentment toward my mother. There was no fear, only sadness. I knew my mother loved me, and I loved my mother. I also held her in judgment and blamed her for one of the most humiliating days of my life.
Unfolding in my mind was everything that happened that day. As a recent high school graduate, I walked into a strange world where people were dressed in business attire. My anxiety level was high, and the moment I opened the door, humiliation quickly moved in. Plastering a smile on my face, I looked for a place to hide from “mocking” eyes.
I wondered how my mother could have done this to me. A skilled seamstress, my mother had created a beautiful, pink-ruffled dress just for me.
From my mother’s perspective, she always loved me and wanted the best for me. Appearances were important to her, and even though the dress was inappropriate, it was a dress created with love for her daughter. My mother had never been to a business office, and she didn’t know what expected attire was; she just wanted me to look “pretty.” That was the last ruffled dress I ever wore!
“We are all born into our different situations and bodies which experience unique challenges and forms of suffering. We are born into a world of darkness, blind to our original identity, so that we might see the light of God within us. That’s why we are here. It’s the primary purpose of our lives. So then, we can rejoice in all our of our trials because they are designed to help us experience the light within us! Indeed, all of our struggles give us the opportunity to see the truth of who we are with new eyes rather than languish in victimhood, blame, offense, and judgment.”

Prayer
Father, I am here in Your presence, and I thank You for loving me. Your training of my life is the evidence of Your faithful love, and when You draw me to Yourself, it proves that I am Your delightful child. How would I ever detect the waywardness of my heart? You forgive my hidden flaws whenever You find them.
Keep cleansing me, God, and keep me from my secret, selfish sins; may they never rule over me! Thank You for freeing me from these faults and rebellion. May the words of my mouth, my meditation, thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before Your eyes, my only Redeemer, my Protector-God.
Father, enlighten my heart and mind. Help sift and analyze the thoughts and intends of my heart. I refuse to be a prisoner to anxieties, memories, imagination, or anything else, that would bring me torment. I refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God.
In Jesus’ name, I lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
