A New Miracle
“Mom, mom,” my daughter cried. “Stop the car! Come around and catch this baby!” Oh, my! I had never delivered a baby, but I knew we were in trouble when a small left foot emerged. Oh, God, help NOW! The birth of a child is always a miracle but Jonathan Luke Sutton, our 11th grandchild, needed more help than expected. He was born on January 24, 2005 at 2:56 in the afternoon.  Lynn’s water had broken at home so we hurried to get her in the car, and made a mad dash for the hospital where the doctors had put a stint in her kidney a few hours earlier. About 10 minutes into the drive the peace of God consumed us. Lynn told us later, “I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the baby would be born in the car. The peace that passes all understanding came over me and I was in the presence of my God.” Luke’s birth was very dramatic, and could have ended tragically for both mother and child, but prayer prepared the way for divine intervention. The one nurse in ER who knew how to deliver a footling breech baby was still at the hospital. The doctor came around to the passenger’s seat where he supported Lynn while the nurse that God had “hindered” from going home delivered Luke who was not breathing. BUT GOD! Today, you would never know that he had a traumatic introduction to the outside world! I believe in the God of miracles!
PRAYER:
Lord-God, Luke’s birthday is a day of celebration! I rejoice because You produced something good from what the enemy planned for bad. You knew and planned for Luke before the foundation of the world, and he is here to fulfill his destiny to bring glory to Your Name. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit who taught me to abide in the vine through study, meditation, proclamation, praise and worship. I have kept company with You and You made a way when there seemed to be no way. I have opened up before You, and have kept nothing back, and You performed a miracle. You validated the lives of my daughter and her son. You stamped them with approval in the light of day. I just can’t stop praising Your name! Jesus, You are LORD and above You there is no other! The LORD, our God is One!
