Take a Deep Breath
Even though the tree is down, the house and schedules are beginning to return to a semblance of normalcy, there is still so much to do to get my life back in order. The many changes of last year overwhelmed me, and I allowed pressure to reshape my schedule. A feeling of defeat mocks me when I look at my Bible reading plan that is off schedule on this third day of the New Year. Refusing to give in to despair, I purpose to sketch out a new plan, but when will I find an opportunity to read and have my intimate visits with the Holy Trinity? Help! I need my personal times of meditation and contemplative prayer! No one can do anything about this except me; no one can change my priorities except me. If it is to be, it is up to me, and again, I cry HELP! It’s time to get a grip and give the Word first place in my day…to make my schedule around the Word of God. Taking a deep breath, I purpose to roll up my sleeves, put my mind in gear, and replace thoughts that could pull me back into the dungeon of depression. The first few words of the first chapter of John pop up and I’m ready to move ahead. In the beginning was the Word; the Word was God. It is time to put first things first…the beginning of each day is my most favorite time to read, meditate and fellowship with the Holy Trinity.
Prayer:
Thank You for another New Year of New Beginnings. Holy Spirit, I ask you to give me a wise mind and a spirit attuned to God’s will, so I might acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which He works. In the name of Jesus I yield my emotions to Your control, and bring every thought into obedience to the Word of God. I replace negative thoughts with the Word of God, and delight myself in the Living Word knowing that You mean what You say, and what You say goes. Thank You for this powerful Word that is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying me open to listen and obey. I can’t get away from Your Word—no matter what. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path and Your Word never changes!! Amen
