Love Lost and Found
The delightful, little girl stood on a chair at the kitchen sink playing in water as she sang a song that floated on the wind from somewhere far away. No one knew about the secret place where she talked with Grandmother Wind. Sometimes Grandmother held her close and whispered mysteries about the galaxies…the sun, moon and stars that lived in the sky above. She knew that her smile made others happy, and that she would entertain others when she grew big. She was born of love, which kept her warm even on cold days. But the enemy of her soul shattered her secret place when her daddy screamed and her mother cried big drops of tears. The doctor came and people were rushing to help, but her little sister was dead and life would never be the same. Her daddy no longer came near her, and her mother wept while holding her too tightly. The little girl finally thought, “If I had died instead of my sister, mother and daddy would be happy. If I had never been born everyone would be happy again.” The happy little girl disappeared, and depression led her places she didn’t want to go. She learned to smile and live behind her eyelids feeling unloved, alone and afraid until Jesus came and wiped away her tears.
PRAYER:
Father, I know that You chose me to be Your very own, and that You love me unconditionally even when I’m not smiling. Thank You for delivering me from depression and restoring me to Love. That old familiar feeling of depression is hovering, just waiting to creep in and overwhelm me again. Holy Spirit, help me locate the root of my incorrect self-perception…reveal the destructive thought patterns that allows the return of this oppressive feeling. Everything begins with a thought, and I’m asking You to analyze the thought patters that I need to take captive and bring into obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Heal every event and memory that prompted ungodly thoughts about who You created me to be. Fill me with Your Light and Truth, Peace and Love, and fill me with forgiveness, and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. You are my exceeding great Joy and I choose feeling joyful because I abide in You and Your Word abides in me. You have healed the painful memories. I choose joy and by faith I am joyful and excited because You have made me glad! (Remember to be patient with yourself. This is a process. The Holy Spirit is helping you take every thought captive as you renew your mind to Truth!)
