It was a beautiful Sunday in Christiansburg, Virginia when I had the opportunity to visit a morning church service. Pastor Rob Sowell gave an illustration of being controlled by the Holy Spirit. He talked about how you can carry a cup half filled with coffee rather carelessly, but if the cup is filled to the brim you are mindful of how you walk. Filling your mind with the Word will change the way you think, talk and walk. The more I have studied and meditated on the Word of God, the more alert I have become to my desires; some intensified while others were replaced. As you work out your salvation, God effectually works in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. Choose to affirm God’s Word every day—be filled with the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER:
My desire is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before others or have their good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Amen
