If you are wondering how to approach the most holy, awesome God, Psalm 100 is a beautiful arrangement for private devotions – sweet communion with the Holy Spirit. He has been sent to be your Helper, and will create a desire within you to know God. Come before the Father with thanksgiving, and ask your Helper to perfect the fruit of your lips giving praise. Thanksgiving, praise and worship will create a Garden of Eden (a Holy Place) where you and the Father walk and talk. You are always welcome to go into the Throne of God where the angels are crying, “Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy!” Talk to the Father, declaring His goodness in the land of the living. Praise and worship ushers you into the awesome presence of God, the Father. There you will learn to meditate and listen for His still small voice.
Use your sanctified imagination (an imagination set apart unto God), and close your eyes. See yourself walking among the trees with your Father who is speaking to you. You are like a tree firmly planted and tended by the streams of water, ready to bring forth fruit in its season. Your leaf shall not fade or wither, and that everything you do shall prosper and come to maturity (Psalm 1:3).
You are His garden, His field under cultivation. You are His beloved and He is yours. His banner over you is love. In His presence is fullness of joy and at his right hand are pleasures forever more. (Psalm 16:11) Jesus came that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Your life becomes an expression of worship. Worship is more than singing a song; it is offering your body as a living sacrifice unto God. Worship is loving Him with your entire being, and obeying Him because you love Him.
Even though you may have a list of prayer requests, take time to worship at His footstool. He is looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and truth. Whatever you have to do, it will go better, you will feel better if you schedule that special personal prayer time—just you and God.
