When People Pray

The New Year, 2009, is here and in a few days we will inaugurate a new president. When we review the events of the past year will we be fearful or remember the Name of the Lord our God? The year, 2008, was filled with drama, shock, fear, excitement, charged emotions and change. Here in the United States of America history was made when the first African-American, Senator Barack Obama, was elected president. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a 44-year-old mother of five, broke tradition and made history when she ran on the Republican ticket headed by John McCain.

Answered Prayer

Corruption on Wall Street, in government and corporate America was exposed. Businesses that many thought could never fail are in trouble. Unfortunately, too many people lost jobs and even some lost their life savings. We learned about bail-outs – major companies were rescued by our government. The economic world has been shaken, and America may never be the same. The positive side of these experiences is that a more caring, compassionate community of Americans emerged

Here at Word Ministries we are praising God for answered prayer. For years many believers have united with us praying the powerful Scriptural prayers, American Government and Protection from Terrorism, which are in the Prayers That Avail Much® Commemorative Edition and on our website. Praise God there have been no more terrorist attacks on American soil since September 11, 2001.

Our Global Company of Intercessors continue to receive the detailed prayer assignments for nations. Let us join others who are praying for peace in the Middle East and around the world. We believe for a new generation of leaders and statesmen and women that walk in integrity and righteousness.

People who Influence us

Life and death continued. On a personal note our 10th great-grandchild, Jonah Copeland, was born. We said goodbye to people who influenced the way America thinks: Tony Snow, FOX news anchorman and White House Press Secretary, Tim Russett, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and host of Meet the Press. Actors Charlton Heston, an active campaigner for Civil Rights, and Paul Newman, a famous move star, race car driver and humanitarian.

We watched and listened to women who were in the limelight. Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey. We cheered when Ann E. Dunwoody of the U.S. Army became the First Four-Star Female General. Hillary Clinton’s campaign became a icon for women who felt that they were not heard.

We should continue to ask ourselves will be influenced by the philosophies and opinions of men or will we remain true to the God of our salvation? The Holy spirit reminds us: Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Romans 12:2 AMP)

A Need for Spirit Reformation

The honor and respect we once had for the office of our president diminished, in some cases disappeared. There is freedom of speech, but we must be careful that we speak the truth in love. As Americans we may not always agree with decisions made by our White House, but as followers of Jesus Christ we have a God-given responsibility to pray for our government leaders without condemnation and criticism.

America was once considered a Christian nation, but we are in need of a spiritual reformation. Are you praying? There is power in united prayer, and I invite you to register on our website and unite with others who are praying for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. If you have already subscribed to the Daily Prayers, thank you for praying with us. I appreciate each and every one of you.

An Invitation

I am inviting those who may not be receiving our Daily Prayers to register at our website for the daily faith-inspired written prayers. You can also become a member of our Global Company of Intercessors through our website. United in prayer we can change our world.

Here at the beginning of a New Year when many are making New Year’s resolutions let us who are followers of Jesus make a commitment or renew our commitment to read God’s Word and pray. Keep yourself in good spirits, continue to walk in the love of the Lord, and laugh and spread joy to everyone wherever you go.
