Daily Prayer “Guarding My Heart”
Dear Father, deliver me from the fear of human opinion that disables, cripples, and even paralyzes me. Instead, I choose to trust in You knowing You will shield me from the harassment of other people’s opinions. People go around making plans and voicing opinions, but You, the Eternal, has the final word. Your thoughts and ways are what matter. They are above and beyond ours.
Holy Spirit, teach me to guard the affections of my heart, for they affect all that I am. Keep me alert to the welfare of my innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life. With Your help, I will avoid dishonest speech and pretentious words, and I am free from using perverse words no matter what! I choose to set my gaze on the path before me with fixed purpose, looking straight ahead and ignoring life’s distractions.
I watch where I’m going and stick to the path of truth, and the road will be safe and smooth before me. I purpose not to be sidetracked for even a moment and or take the detour that leads to darkness. I choose to pray instead of worrying and let petitions and praises shape my worries into prayer.
I will go out with joy and be led home wrapped in peace. You, dear Father, are my Source of peace.
Before I know it, I experience a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good to settle me down. It’s wonderful what happens when You displace worry at the center of my life! In the name of Jesus, amen.
