Daily Prayer “Spare Me from the Harm of My Past.”
Father-God, I need understanding about these flashbacks and emotions that overwhelm me. Holy Spirit, I ask You to help me pray when I do not know what to pray. I’ve poured out my life before You, and in spite of these feelings of dread, guilt, and fear, I know that You are always here for me. So now I ask You to teach me more of Your holy decrees. Open up my understanding to the ways of Your wisdom, and I will meditate deeply on Your splendor and Your wonders.
My life’s strength melts away with grief and sadness. Come strengthen me and encourage me with Your words, my Lord and my God. You have gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness You follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With Your hand of love upon my life, You impart a blessing to me. This is just too wonderful and incomprehensible!
Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength. You see and You know the trauma of the past. Your Spirit was with me, and I did not run and hide from Your face. When I am oppressed, I come to You as a shelter in the time of trouble. You are a perfect hiding place. I know Your mercy, and I am putting my trust in You, for I can count on You for help no matter what.
Lord, You will never—no never—neglect anyone who comes to You. Thank You for hearing my prayer. In the name of Jesus, amen.
